BUILDING BRIDGES

Nowadays, if there was one word to describe the population, it might include "diversity." Young, old, rich, poor, you name it, you can find it. However, communication is of utmost importance no matter who you're interacting with.
There are over 28 million people in the United States with a significant amount of hearing loss. Is your company or organization prepared for the occasion when a deaf or hard of hearing person enters your place of business, facility, store or center?
Building Bridges is Deaf Expressions' answer to all your communication needs. With our 90-minute presentation, we can show your staff everything you need to know in order to successfully and comfortably interact with this population.
Business and personal etiquette, correct terminology, myths versus facts, necessary accommodations, the American Disability Act, different methods of communicating, Sign Language, speechreading (lipreading), and much, much more!
We will come to you and present in your environment. We will engage and involve your workers in order to help better understand one another. We will provide a presentation folder filled with information for your staff to take home and review periodically. We will teach you how best to accommodate someone who speechreads. We will teach you basic signs that will help your specific company in its communication with deaf and hard of hearing people. All you have to do is provide the space and the attendees--we'll take care of the rest!
To schedule your Building Bridges presentation, send an email to DeafExpressions05@gmail.com or a phone TEXT to 616-516-6314. Call early as time slots fill up quickly!
