SIGN LANGUAGE TUTORING

PRIVATE TUTORING IS FOR YOU!

Our first meeting, we will give us a chance to see where you are in your abilities and decide on a lesson plan. We will discuss whether Conversational Sign would be better for your purposes or if American Sign Language would be your goal. Depending on that decision, we can discuss what book you would need to purchase (or have us make copies for $3.00/week extra).

COST OF TUTORING PER PERSON, PER HOUR IS ONLY $15!

Sessions are available to be held at our location or at your location.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES I & II

If you have a group of five or more students and you would like to form a class of your own, let us know. This class is broken down into two 12 week sessions. It emphasizes the foreign language of American Sign Language and is a college preparatory class. Class includes basics such as fingerspelling and numbers as well as American Sign Language grammar, sentence structure, syntax, and Deaf Culture. This class is not for someone who "just" wants to be able to communicate with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. That would be the Conversational Sign classes. This class is for the serious student who wishes to earn foreign language credits or become an interpreter.

We can form class to meet at your location (or ours, if the number of students is under 12). Classes have two levels: American Sign Language I and American Sign Language II. Each level has two twelve-week classes with 90 minutes per class. We use the book "Learning American Sign Language" (2nd edition) by Tom Humphries and Carol Padden. It is suggested you purchase the book. If however, you decide not to, there will be a nominal fee for us to make copies for you each week.

Keep track of the schedules by visiting our website frequently, viewing our calendar at  http://my.calendars.net/deafexpressions  or subscribing to our free newsletter (email or print).
